What our guests say about Maison Lambot

  • “We have enjoyed so many exceptional and memorable stays at Monfort. Away form the madding crowds, Monfort’s rhythm is that of quintessential village life in France, a corner still unspoilt and undiscovered.

Combining ‘rambling and spacious’ with ‘gracious and charming’, this beautiful village house offers guests real comfort with relaxed and elegant accommodation, wonderful gardens and swimming pool, all within an easy stroll of the village of Montfort, and only a short drive to other vibrant market towns in the area (should you be able to tear yourselves away from the terraces under the shade of the plane trees!).

Monfort is beautiful both in winter and summer – winter comforts include the blazing fires and quiet forest walks, while summer is a time to enjoy the pool and olive grove and outdoor adventures.”

  • We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Maison Lambot – a truly hedonistic experience!  The house is ideally situated in a charming and unspoilt village and enjoys stunning views over the Provencal countryside.  The spacious interior is exceptionally well laid out and tastefully furnished and decorated.  Each of the elegant bedrooms enjoys its own individual character and total privacy, and the en suite bathrooms are fitted to the highest standard.  The kitchen/dining area is generously proportioned, perfect for entertaining in style.  This opens on to the beautiful terrace bordered by olive groves and lavender beds which even provides a Fragonard style swing for those feeling particularly romantic.  I would thoroughly recommend Maison Lambot to all Francophiles!

  • Fabulous home-from-home set in wonderful rolling Provencal countryside, with a stunning terrace outside the kitchen, dining room and living room, overlooking an enormous olive grove, and an immaculately kept swimming pool, within the olive grove with its own terrace. Perfect for relaxing and lounging.  The house is beautifully furnished, with exquisite taste and incredible comfort.

Lovely village with excellent restaurant, all in easy walking distance. Lots to do in the area, close to the charming towns of Cotignac, Aix-en-Provence, Mont-St Victoire and Cezanne’s atelier to name but a few examples.

  • We spent a couple of days at Maison Lambot during the Christmas holidays.

The house is tastefully renovated and has a homely feel about it; we particularly liked the way in which the owners managed to preserve its authentic charm.

The beautifully updated open kitchen and dining room with its exposed stone arch exits onto a large terrace, shaded by two wonderful old plane trees. We could perfectly imagine how these provide much-welcomed shade in the summer, whilst during our stay in the winter, they made for a striking feature.

Beyond the terrace is an extensive, private garden with olive grove, through which one can reach the centre of the village of Montfort.

We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the beautiful surrounding area. Indeed, the house is ideally situated to discover the delights of the Provence.

  • I spent ten exceptional days in this magnificent 18th century mansion near the attractive medieval village of Montfort sur Argens in the Var, Provence.  It is the birthplace of Joseph Lambot (19th century), inventor of reinforced concrete.
As the mansion has been refurbished to an original and charming 18th century style, I felt I went back in time experiencing what it was like living in this mansion three centuries ago but being offered all the luxurious modern amenities and a beautiful swimming pool in the grounds.
This is the place for nature lovers and history lovers. The air is so pure, perfect for relaxation.
I enjoyed walking up to the Templar castle overlooking the village of Montfort and coming across the eighteenth century ruins of the ramparts and the portcullis.
I loved discovering the neighbouring village of Cotignac with its waterfalls, its fountains, its great rock, its beautiful churches and many restaurants, cafés and shops.
I would thoroughly recommend Maison Lambot to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday home in beautiful surroundings.

It was a perfect stay to this truly magnificent home – it exceeded all our expectations. The house is exceptional, in addition to its beautiful historical architecture, it is spacious, very comfortable, perfectly furnished and cool even in the heat of summer. The amenities are perfect and the surounding area is absolutely lovely, with enough things to do should you wish to have short cultural and historical escapades.

  • For me one of the highlights of Maison Lambot is the large, functional kitchen with very ample dining facilities either within the kitchen area or on the immediately adjacent patio, which affords lovely views of the olive grove in total quiet and privacy.

I also enjoyed the authentic décor, fine art works and comfortable bedrooms with en-suites. Proximity to Provencal towns and art museums is a bonus.

  • “Most people sweep past this lovely village on their way to its’ famous neighbour, Cotignac. But Monfort is an unpretentious green gem, surrounded by vineyards. The historic Maison Lambot is the place to stay – luxurious beds and bathrooms, pool, terrace and olive grove. Very hard to beat”
“We can’t stop returning to the Maison Lambot – an oasis in a hidden corner of Provence. Brangelina have a bigger place in the next village but this grand B&B is its match.”

  • Maison Lambot is a delightful and elegant house which has been beautifully updated by its present owners. Our room was spacious with an excellent bathroom and open country views. There is a charming terrace overlooking the olives and further to the pretty village of Montfort. There is also an excellent pool. The village is within easy walking distance of the house and there are some good local restaurants there. Montfort is within easy reach of the motorway and reaching Maison Lambot from either Nice or Marsailles airports is straightforward.

The area of the Var surrounding the house is delightful with plenty of opportunities for interesting exploration. We particularly enjoyed Entrecasteaux and the pretty village of Cotignac. The area has plenty of vineyards where wine tasting can easily be arranged and slightly further afield is the wonderful city of Aix-en-Provence, home to Cézanne.

  • I stayed a week at the charming Maison Lambot.  It is such a beautiful house and garden, and an easy stroll to the village.  The house is in a lovely area of vineyards, and within easy reach of unspoilt countryside, historic villages and is a perfect luxurious base for exploring the area, or a  restful retreat with its large terraces, and garden and pool to relax in. Highly recommend.
